strawberry gin cooler with rosemary

welcome!

i suppose it is only fitting to celebrate the creation of this new blog with a cocktail.

i have been addicted to food blogs since my friend showed me smittenkitchen. i’ve shied away until now because i don’t have a fancy camera, but what the hell, i make some damn good food and instagram covers up poor camera skills pretty well.

this cocktail was the product of having a bottle of rosemary simple syrup i made last summer still sitting in the fridge. this took care of that.

strawberry gin cooler with rosemary

2 tablespoons strawberry puree
1 tablespoon rosemary simple syrup
2 shots gin (i like ’em strong)
club soda to fill

combine the first three ingredients and stir, add your ice and club soda, give it another stir, and sip away.

strawberry puree</strong

2 pints strawberries
2 lemons, juiced
blend the strawberries with the lemon juice well in a food processor or blender. don't skimp on the blending well as you don't want strawberry chunks clogging up your straw.

rosemary simple syrup:
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
3 good sized rosemary sprigs
bring the water with the rosemary in the pot to a boil and add the sugar. keep boiling until the sugar dissolves and let it simmer for another five or ten minutes. let cool and bottle.
i recommend doing this the day before so it has plenty of time to chill.
